Immigration officials disclosed Wednesday that they have stumbled on a new human trafficking scheme, after their officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport intercepted five Korea-bound Filipina entertainers.
The Bureau of Immigration said through the trafficking scheme undocumented Filipina entertainers are deployed to South Korea via Hong Kong.
BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the five were intercepted last week as they were about to board a Philippine Airlines flight to Hong Kong at the NAIA Terminal 2’s departure area.
“The women initially insisted that they were tourists who would be vacationing in Hong Kong but upon thorough questioning they finally admitted that their destination is South Korea to work,” the BI said.
