Gambia: 79 Youths Apprehended for Alleged Child Trafficking in Banjul

79 persons were apprehended for child trafficking and child exploitation in Banjul on Tuesday 8 January 2013 by the Gambia Immigration Department personnel.

The spokesperson of the Gambia Immigration Department, Superintendent Ensa Jawara alleged that the groups were engaged in child trafficking in the city of Banjul but during the normal working exercise of the Gambia Immigration they are able to unveil this unlawful act.

He revealed that among the 79 people apprehended, 77 are all Senegalese nationals 63 of whom are 11 to 17 years and 14 are at the age of 18 and above.
