Sensitising cops to combat human trafficking

City Police personnel would be sensitised to host of aspects connected with human trafficking, issues relating to it and the ways to combat the crime at a two-day workshop on “combating trafficking in human beings” that commenced here on Tuesday.

In addition to law enforcers also attached with the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), representatives of non-governmental organisations are also taking part in the workshop that is being conducted by the Crime Branch CID, Chennai.

Recent trends in trafficking, prevention of trafficking of women and children, concept and dimension of human trafficking, sexual violence against children and women, child rights and child in need of care and protection, Juvenile Justice Act, investigation techniques, rescue process and post rescue process and rehabilitation besides significance of Child Welfare Committees and AHTUs constitute the range of topics to be covered during the course of the programme.
