A special assistant of U.S President Barack Obama will arrive here to help the country step up its campaign in combating human trafficking, the US Embassy in Manila said Monday.

Joshua DuBois, special assistant to Obama and executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, will be in the country for two days starting Tuesday where he will meet the academe, various non-government organizations and interfaith groups to help address the human trafficking, according to the US embassy.

“Mr. DuBois’s visit, which is being coordinated through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will focus on efforts to combat human trafficking,” the embassy statement said.

DuBois will be accompanied by the director of USAID’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, J. Mark Brinkmoeller, and USAID Human Trafficking and Gender Advisor, Veronica Zeitlin.
