A member of a notorious El Salvadorian-basedorganized crime gang, who was arrested Wednesday by federal agents, was charged on Thursday with prostituting a juvenile in Alexandria, Virginia.
Following his arrest and processing, Yimmy Anthony Pineda Penado, a/k/a “Critico” and “Spike,” of Montgomery County, Maryland, made his initial appearance before Judge Theresa C. Buchanan, United States magistrate judge for the Eastern District of Virginia to answer to charges of sex trafficking a juvenile.
According to court documents, Pineda Penado admitted he is an active member of the crime gangMara Salvatrucha, also known as “MS-13.”
He allegedly prostituted at least one teenage girl in Northern Virginia and Maryland. Pineda Penado is accused of “providing juvenile female runaways with alcohol and drugs in an effort to make them more compliant and receptive to being prostituted to older men.”
